Lorraine Pinto (Mexican/American, b. 1933) Brutalist bronze sculpture in the form of an abstracted mother cradling a child in her arms. Circa 1960. Mounted to a wooden plinth. Unsigned but purchased with an additional signed piece. Measures 16.5in height x 7in diameter with plinth and about 14.5in height x 5.5in width x 5in depth sculpture only. Condition: Sculpture is in excellent condition, the wooden plinth have been repainted and is like new. Pinto exhibited most recently in a 2012 retrospective at Art de Moderne - Mexico City “Cinetismo” (Kineticism). In addition to her serious art career her sculptures were included in the sets of the campy R-rated 1975 B- Movie classic “Mary, Mary, Bloody Mary” about an American bisexual vampire artist living in Mexico.
