Henry Dropsy (French, 1885-1969) Art Deco cast bronze medallion, ca.1925. Mythology themed scene of two young fauns dancing. Measures 2in diameter, 2.5in height with integral base. Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Dropsy was the son of the medallist Emile Dropsy. He was first pupil to his father, later he went on to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts under Thomas, Vernon and Patey. Dropsy exhibited at the Salon from 1907, he received a silver medal in 1914, a gold medal in 1921 and a travel grant in 1922. He was created Chevalier of the Legion of Honor and was selected for the Directors' position of the Paris Mint. Dropsy became professor for medal engraving at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and Membre de l'Institut (1942). Juju’s Vintage Collection
