Jorge Dumas (Uruguay/Argentina/Washington D.C., 1928 - 1985) “Pescadora”, circa 1960, color lithograph on Arches paper, edition of 100, signed and numbered in pencil lower margin. Measures 30in x 22.5in sheet size and about 22in x 18in image only. Condition: a series of rectangular incidents of toning from former framing materials, otherwise no condition issues.
Dumas was born in Montevideo, Uruguay where he studied under acclaimed Uruguayan painter, Joaquin Torres Garcia. He is best known for figurative paintings and prints that were inspired by his extensive travels in Bolivia and Peru. Reminiscent of the style of the Mexican Muralists, Dumas's work has been exhibited in major international and American cities and is represented in numerous museum collections.
