Auguste-Nicholas Cain (French, 1822-1894) tigress feeding her cubs Bronze, dark brown patina, modeled as a tigress standing with a peacock in her jaws, her two cubs at her feet, signed “Cain” in cast and dated 1866, with “Barbedienne Fondeur” foundry mark and seal "Reduction Mechanique A. Collas Brevete" denoting, at the time, their newly discovered and revolutionary method of reducing larger scale bronzes. Measures 26in length x 17th height x 7in width. Condition: Excellent condition.
