Charming pen and ink drawing depicting an expensively attired man somewhat begrudgingly buying a holly wreath from a cute little girl who is standing on a grate to keep warm. Circa 1910. Signed lower right “Netta M. Filer” . Measures 15in x 10in overall. Condition: light wear at far edges, image is in excellent condition. Netta M. Filer lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan and is listed as an artist in the 1899 Kalamazoo City Directory, she studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1901-1902 and applied for a series of fine art copyrights in 1908-1909. The August 1902 edition of Duluth Evening mentions Filer as having designed the cover for The Pilgrim magazine.
