Harry Mintz (Active Illinois/Poland, 1907 - 2002) untitled, gouache painting on paper, circa 1950, signed lower right “H. Mintz”. Framed in period frame under glass. Measures 20in x 16in framed and 11in x 9in image only. Condition: art work is in excellent vintage condition, frame has scrapes and chips to paint, mat has soiling. Mintz studied at the Cleveland School of Art, Cleveland Institute, and School of the Art Institute of Chicago where he later taught. There is mention of his involvement in the WPA: New Deal Federal Arts Project but I can’t find much about this. He was a member and and exhibited at Chicago Society of Artists as well as Art Institute of Chicago, Corcoran Gallery, Washington DC, Metropolitan Museum of Art NYC, The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
