Great grouping of 4 Art Deco era clown paintings by New Orleans artist Majel Warfield (b. 1905-, New Orleans, LA). Great color and contrast. All are signed lower right “Majel”. Each is framed in a black and white wood frame. The frames need to be repainted as they are all damaged/discolored but the painted images of clowns have survived the ages nicely and are a little soiled but in good condition. Measures 18.5in 14.5in framed and 11.5in x 7.5in image only. Louisiana artist Majel Warfield was born in New Orleans in 1905 and studied under F. Grant. She became a member of the New Orleans Art Association and the Southern States Art League. She sold a great deal of work through W. & J. Sloane and is a listed artist, appearing in Who Was Who in American Art, and Davenport's.
