Antique Cowan Heavily Carved Mahogany Executive Desk Circa 1900 Chicago

Cowan Furniture Co., circa 1900, heavily carved mahogany executive work desk. Nice large work surface in front of center shelf flanked by two accessory cabinets which open to a drawer and two cubbies each. Three drawers, two lock the third (far right) lock does not work. Side drawer front are heavily carvrd with S-scroll and fruit motifs. Deeply carved legs stand on original brass casters. Marked inside drawer with the remnants of a decal for Cowan Furniture Company a premier Chicago furniture manufacturer around the turn of the 19th to 20th century century. Measures 61 inches width x 30in depth x 37.5 inches height at back of desk. Work surface height is 30 inches. Height to bottom of drawer where your knees fit is 24 inches. Condition: some old gouges and scratches to top that have been touched up. Wear to finish at edges. Missing trim piece around top of right side leg.
